Yesterday, a light bulb went on over my head, and I realized that my amber glass liquid vitamin bottles (see photo at very bottom) could be easily cleaned and repurposed to hold a refreshing homemade facial/room spray!
After thoroughly washing and drying the bottle and pump, I filled the bottle almost to the top with pure filtered water, then added 36 drops of organic grapefruit essential oil and 36 drops of organic sweet orange essential oil. The result is a wonderfully fragrant spray which can be used not only to freshen one’s face, but also to freshen (and cleanse the air in) an entire room!
The spray comes in especially handy given that I am now brewing my own homemade kombucha and water kefir, and it’s not good for the bacteria/yeast to migrate from one of these to the other. Now, I can simply spritz the air to help prevent tiny particles from drifting between the two containers.
I chose orange and grapefruit because they are uplifting, stress-reducing, invigorating, and also antiseptic. For my next batch, which I will make just as soon as I use up another bottle of liquid vitamins, I plan to make a night-time blend that is calming and sleep-inducing. After that, I’ll probably make one with peppermint for headaches/fevers, and another with a eucalyptus combo that is good for respiratory ailments. The possibilities are limitless!
Oh how I love simple pleasures like this. 🙂
